From 1919 to 1939, the enamels went through an Arts Deco period in the artistic movement launched by Art Moderne or Modern Style, a new stylistic trend taking its source in the abstraction of Cubism. As a historic pottery, Emaux de Longwy is reissuing certain pieces and decorations that bear witness to its creativity, a creativity that continues to leave its mark on the times through its timeless modernism.

In 1923, Luxembourg and its Grand Duchess Charlotte helped finance the acquisition of the Hôtel des Récollets in Longwy-bas with a donation of 500,000 francs to the commune, in order to relocate the town hall of the city of enamel following the destruction of its town hall on Place Darche during the Great War.

This vase pays tribute to this part of Franco-Luxembourg history and friendship.

Creation 1998
