Long live Longwy, campaign for the future of the Manufacture

For over 220 years, Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy 1798 has been perpetuating a unique craftsmanship recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage: cloisonné enamel on earthenware, entirely handmade in its Lorraine workshops. 

Today, this iconic company, which is part of the heritage of Lorraine and France, must present a continuation plan before February 11, 2026, to secure its future, preserve jobs, and pass on its expertise to future generations.

By participating in this campaign, you are providing concrete and immediate support to the Manufacture. Each purchase helps to finance the business, keep the artisans working, and continue production under sustainable conditions.

You have the opportunity to purchase two turtles, symbols of longevity and resilience, both limited to 1,000 copies. 

The first exclusive edition created by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac celebrates boldness and creativity to offer a unique piece. It is available for €190 including tax.

The second one is made of glazed earthenware and gold. It is available at a price of €99 including tax.

As in the fable, you started out like hares, but now, like our tortoise, you have to keep up the pace until the end of January.
Thanks to your mobilization and support, our first week of fundraising allowed us to pass the €50,000 mark.
We are now on our way to the next milestone of €100,000, and as a reminder, our goal is €200,000 by the end of the fundraising campaign.

What can you do with €200,000?

In our situation, this represents:
- the first three years of repayment of our continuation plan
- the renovation of our extraction system to protect the health of our employees.

These are just two examples....
That is why we are counting on all of you to spread the word about our initiative as much as possible.

If we could find homes for our 1,000 Longue-Vie Longwy turtles and our 1,000 Ciel de Bohème turtles, our fundraising would reach new heights: €289,000.

Our workshops will be closed from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026, reopening on Monday, January 5.

The Longwy store will be closed on December 26 and from January 1 to 4, 2026, reopening on January 5 at 10 a.m.

An iconoclastic and visionary designer, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is renowned for his joyful, poetic pop universe, where art, fashion and design meet.
The LONGUE VIE, LONGWY collection brings together these two major players in the world of home decoration, with their passion for bold colors, their attachment to symbols and their desire to bring tradition and modernity into dialogue.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's poetic and expressive motifs find an ideal setting in the refined forms and age-old techniques of the Manufacture, giving birth to unique pieces that are both objets d'art and objets de vie.

This encounter is a manifesto of creativity: it celebrates audacity, heritage and transmission, while opening up new perspectives for French decorative art.

In 2025, Art Deco celebrates its centenary, recalling the creative impetus born in the 1920s. This movement, which left its mark on architecture, design and the decorative arts, has a particular resonance in Longwy, thanks to the famous enamels and earthenware produced in the Lorraine town.

From the interwar period onwards, Longwy's workshops distinguished themselves with their geometric designs, bold colors and pure shapes, emblematic of the Art Deco aesthetic. Heir to know-how handed down since the 18th century, Manufacture de Longwy has succeeded in combining traditional craftsmanship with artistic modernity, creating pieces sought after the world over.

These creations, exhibited at major international shows and found in many interiors of the time, embody the alliance of luxury, innovation and heritage.
A century later, they retain all their brilliance and continue to seduce collectors, museums and lovers of the decorative arts.

Art Deco signatures from the Manufacture

Among the designers who passed through the Manufacture during this Art Deco period were Paul-Maurice Chevalier and his famous Jungle ball, which won a prize at the 1931 Exposition Coloniale, Curetti and his portraits of women and transatlantic liners, and S.Olesiewicz, known as Jean Olin, and his bathers.
Stéphane Gisclard's more contemporary but highly inspired works are models of the genre, influenced by Cubism, from which Art Deco borrowed many elements.

Pierre Marie revisits Longwy's Art Deco shapes

For his Lemuriforme installation around an Art Deco dining room set, artist Pierre Marie, in collaboration with Manufactures EMBLEM (to which Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy belongs), has created designs based on 1930s shapes such as the toupie vase, the compotier, the calice vase, the soliflore or the boite feel, emblematic models of the historic earthenware factory.

Journées des Métiers d'Art, Longwy enamel workshops

These JEMA workshops are fully booked.

As part of the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art, the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy 1798 is offering filling workshops to discover some of the exceptional know-how "made in Lorraine".

These workshops will take place, by reservation only, on Saturday April 5, 2025 from 8am to 10am, 10:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm, at our premises at 3 rue des émaux - 54400 LONGWY.

Open to 16-year-olds and over, free of charge, groups of up to 12 people.

Reserved for people who have never taken part in filling workshops.

Draw me the enamels, Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince collection

The eagerly-awaited release of the film adapted from Saint-Exupéry's masterpiece, "The Little Prince", is an opportunity to rediscover the exclusive collection of decorative objects created by the Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy 1798, which illuminates the dreamer in all of us.
