Description

Ø 28 - H. 50
Collection : Chou
Model : Vase
Designer : Pierre Gonalons

For his first collaboration with the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy 1798, Pierre Gonalons set out to reinterpret the large decorative collection vase, an object that has been at the heart of our Manufacture's production since the 19th century, an era that fascinates the designer.
The conceptual idea of this vase is based on the colour which itself becomes the form and vice versa. In contrast to a decoration integrated into a predefined shape, Pierre Gonalons wanted to treat them as equals.
The name of this creation, Chou, refers to childhood memories of a sweet treat, a cream puff.
The very dynamic shape of the spiral evokes amusing themes such as confectionery and pastries. It also refers to the twisted flutes, a decoration that originated in Antiquity and has crossed all the periods of the Decorative Arts.

Numbered and limited edition of 20 copies.

Creation 2020

Please note: This vase is purely decorative and is not waterproof.

Designer
Pierre Gonalons Pierre Gonalons, designer and interior architect, is based in Paris. Born in Lyon into a family with Italian cultural origins, he cultivated an early sensitivity to French heritage and art history. A graduate of the Camondo school, Pierre Gonalons quickly imposed his singular vision of design and space. He founded his design studio at the age of 23 and designed for prestigious companies such as Lalique, Chloé, Pierre Frey, Nina Ricci, Pernod, Weston, etc., in parallel with his self-edited collections and limited editions for international galleries. His creations fall between simplicity and spectacularity and give priority to the expression of materials, which he considers a source of inspiration. He defends a minimal design to which he transmits references to decorative arts and Pop culture. Find out more about the artist: https://www.pierregonalons.com
