His pictorial universe, colourful and poetic, is composed of animals from all over the world. In 2003, Alain Thomas was recognised in the French contemporary art world as a leader in 'naïve-primitive' painting. His highly individual style has enabled him to illustrate some twenty works in his forty-year career, including several children's stories, monographs, bestiaries and bibliophile books. Successfully exhibited in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Alain Thomas' paintings now decorate prestigious collections with unique know-how such as illuminations, Longwy enamels, Limoges porcelains, Lyon silks, Aubusson tapestries...
